Current Status

The DEI Commission proposed changes to the City Charter to remove gender-specific terms and replace with gender-neutral terms. The voters approved the changes in March of 2023. Policies that have been revised in 2024 and 2025 have been modified to be gender neutral. As legacy policies are reviewed and revised, they will be modified to ensure they contain gender neutral language.
